What kind of attire is appropriate??
It was Sunday so it wasn't crowded. As a result a very relaxing atmosphere. Service was great and the server was very nice. My wife and I both had fish dishes which were great. Each entree had a unique preparation and artistic presentation. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that It was my first time so I'm forced to be a little conservative. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Some may consider a little pricey but come on.. it's Geneva. IL.
MoreGreat food in an amazing historic home, a must stop in the heart of downtown Geneva.
MoreA beautiful venue! Sat at the bar for dessert and cocktails. Good food, drinks, and service. Having been to New Orleans, the beignets and banana's foster were a let down. I hope to return and try other dishes and I hope to re address this review with 5 stars.
MoreWent there for cocktails. Get service and great wine and gin martinis. It smelled wonderful, I can't wait to go back dinner!
MoreThis restaurant had a incredible ambiance. The service and sever were attentive and friendly. The menu was pricey and food did not meet that expectation.
MoreThe service was great, but the food was overseasoned and a little overpriced.
The Patton House is a great restaurant, love the food. However this past weekend my food was so so, but I didn't complain. My sweet potatoes were very mushy n cold under a piece of salmon. So this time only 3 stars instead of 5.
MoreVery good. Very expensive. Awesome oyster Rockefeller. Nice staff.
Loved it! Such a cool vibe. The bar area is nice and lively, but the dining area is such laid back, like you’re in the living room of an old southern estate. Food is pretty good and the drinks are awesome!
MoreI regularly come purchasing some food here. I enjoyed the fast customer service and well made food. Fantastic work.
MoreLove the food, the atmosphere and the service! Funny, I don’t really think of it as NOLA food especially...just really good. Try the new mussels they have, amazing!
MoreIt was ok. Service was great. Food was meh. It was way better prior to covid19 excuse.
MoreSimply the best Cajun food in the Burbs! The menu caters to just about everybody. I have eaten here three times and it is consistently excellent, both, service and food! The lobster Mac, and the Beussel sprouts are definitely a must have! Not too mention the shrimp and grits, the ribeye looks as if it would be on Fred Fintstones dinner table!!!! You have to try it....just once ....you'll be hooked!
MoreGreat atmosphere and awesome food. Prime rib was superb, wife enjoyed the flat iron steak. Will be back!
MoreFrom the first moment you enter this restaurant the personel give you an enjoyable feeling. Very congenial crew, it is a friendly restaurant to go out with friends and colleagues or with your date. heavenly cuisine, professional chef, comfortable price and excellent service. Highly recommended.
MoreGreat Cajun food served in an 1857 historic home!
Was not very happy here. Kid's meals are extremely overpriced. I also ordered some gumbo along with a cheeseburger-assuming the gumbo would come first, and then there would be time to eat it before my burger came. The food took an extremely long time to come (in a quite uncrowded restaurant), and finally my burger came--but the gumbo never did. I told the runner bringing the burger to cancel the gumbo, but then a minute later a girl showed up with the gumbo and handed me that to eat with my burger. Very frustrating. On top of that, the waiter barely came by the table, and refills didn't come often. No way anyone should be waiting that long, especially with 3 little kids. Will no be going back. Food was mediocre.
MoreMy husband and I love this place! Amazing food and great service. I love the shrimp and grits and bacon wrapped dates. Yumm!
More1857 Geneva home, one of the oldest in the city, converted into the Patten House Restaurant and Bar. Cajen based menu. Large portions. Ample parking.
MoreHave been here many times, mainly because the old house is cool and the location is convenient for us. The food is really just okay, and is overpriced, which is why we go primarily for drinks and appetizers once in awhile. Hopefully some day the restaurant will reach its full potential as a true Cajun restaurant with great food.
MoreWonderful hospitality, great food, a unique ambience, and one of my favorite places in Fox Valley. Get the stuffed figs and biscuits for sure! I also love the gumbo! I've had the original Muffalata in NOLA many times and I'll put the one here up against that any day, plus this one is warm!Nick, Nancy, Wally and the crew are great hosts! Do yourself a favor and eat at The Patten House!
MoreI think the food is good, not amazing, and everytime I have gone back I realize the same thing; it's overpriced
MoreI celebrated my PhD last night in this gorgeous place. I am glad to say that we enjoyed a incredible evening and the restaurant was no doubt the reason for the happy celebration. The waiters cooperated in a gorgeous style, the cuisine was extremely good and my friends were very glad. We shall no dout come back again for more celebrations. Thank you very much.
MoreFood is excellent! And i love the old big windows and the vibe it gives!
The Patten House was built in 1857 and the restaurant has kept much of the 1800s decor. This is something I really like. My wife ordered gumbo and sliders for her entree. She said everything was good. The menu has many Cajun/New Orleans offerings, so I was disappointed they did not offer fresh oysters. I started off with a greens salad with their house dressing. That was quite good. For my entree I had a muffaletta sandwich. It was just okay, lacking a good amount of olive spread which really makes the muffaletta sandwich unique. The biggest problem, was that we met a couple there we only see once or so a year and the restaurant was so noisy we could not carry on a conversation. So everyone was shouting to be heard. This is not a complaint of the management, but it's something you should know if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night.
MoreFantastic service. Great food.
Really liked the ambiance here. Charming and romantic spot. Food and drinks are average but worth a visit just to hang. I really like the patio
MoreGorgeous venue with incredible food. We had drinks, the brussel sprouts, shared the grouper entree, and had a lovely peach cobbler dessert. Each item was delightful, with excellent recommendations from or waitress. Perfect level of attention was given. We will absolutely be returning as it made our anniversary very special.
MoreWe have been here three times prior to this evening. We asked to be seated in a quiet area so we could talk. We were seated in a small dining room on the second floor. Soon after another party was seated next to us. They were very loud and became even louder as the evening progressed. Our server was almost non existent and seemed to be oblivious to the noise disruption from that table. It took almost an hour and a half for our meal to be served and by that time we couldn't even hold any type of conversation due to the level of noise from the adjoining table. At this point there were only the two tables in the room. We ended up leaving before all of our party finished dinner or coffee was served. The evening was totally ruined. We brought up our dissatisfaction with the noise level to the manager when leaving; however, she made no effort to address or resolve the issue. The food is not worth it. The service is definitely not worth it. We will not be back.
MoreThe food was great, the atmosphere was genuine, and the service was top notch!
Great Gumbo, a very relaxing atmosphere.I highly recommend.
I loved their food. I just visited yesterday and that was very tasty. Very beautiful view too!
MoreThis was one of our favorite places for lunch, pre-covid. Unfortunately, they lacked enough PPE to have the bartender, non-wait staff and cooks wear masks while walking through the restaurant, tending bar and in the kitchen. Guess they don't know wearing masks protects their customers!!!
MoreNeat atmosphere in a restored 1800’s home, with really solid Cajun fare. It’s a great place to get smaller plates and share with friends and family. Cozy rooms add to the ambiance, as you enjoy honey sriracha Brussels sprouts, bacon wrapped figs, gumbo, or shrimp and grits.
MoreWent here for dinner,. Their standard menu has been reduced & all of their prices were increased by roughly 35%. Only the waiters were wearing face masks. The owner was not & thought nothing of teaching over our table to retrieve empty bread plates. The bus boys & bartender were also mask less. Food was ok, but not worthy of new prices. Their bowls of jambalaya doubled in price AND was served in cup sized bowls.😑
MoreStay away! They have HUNDREDS of cockroaches. The quality of food is TGIFridays at best. If you ever book a party or an outing here make sure you ask to see the exact charges since this business is know for arbitrarily adding $100 to the bill. The owner consistently physically and verbally abuses the staff. She goes months without paying employees. I hear horror stories from people in Geneva about the experiences their kids had working for this lady.
MoreGreat food, friendly efficient staff, great outdoor seating, just a little pricey.
More2 stars just because the atmosphere was inviting. Cocktails were disappointing, salad was laughable, salmon well overcooked like you we’re chewing on a steak. Was a major let down and way overpriced. Save your money.
MoreOverall, the place is beautiful! There is great friendly staff, amazing food, and large seating options! I would highly recommend The Patten House!
